Description: Perennial pepperweed is a creeping perennial that grows up to 6 feet tall. The leaves which have a prominent, whitish midvein) are lance-shaped, entire to toothed. Basal leaves are larger than the stem leaves and have long petioles, with neither leaves clasping the stem. White-petaled flowers are borne in rounded clusters at the ends of branches.
Origin: Southern Europe Key Characteristics:
  • Height of growth (up to 6 feet tall)
  • Nonclasping leaves
  • Small, white-petaled flowers in dense clusters
Distribution: Perennial pepperweed has been identified in several areas of the state, but the largest area is the middle Rio Grande Valley.
